How can I help out?

There are so many ways to help out and we can always use an extra hand. We just ask you give us a bit of information about yourself here:

House policy: 18 + Event

You must be 18 years of age or older to attend Mayofest. Our staff who will welcome you to the fest will be ID'ing everyone. If you do not have sufficient identification or proof of age, you WILL be turned away. Mayofest staff reserve the right to refuse entry or service to any individual or party. Don't want to be disappointed? Have your I.D. and be 18 or older. If you are of age but do not have proof of it, you can be denied entry.

We apologize to our Mayofest friends who will be unable to attend this event due to the age restriction, but we look forward to welcoming you at future Mayofests.

SHOULD I BRING FOOD?

If you'd like! Food is available to purchase but is not included with your admission. If you have any allergies, or are have special dietary requirements (gluten free, vegan, etc.) we encourage you to bring your own food since there may not always be a wide selection able to accommodate every dietary restriction.

IS THIS BYOB? SHOULD I BRING OUTSIDE ALCOHOL?

No alcoholic beverages of any kind are permitted to be brought onto or removed from the premises. Our liquor license prohibits any outside alcohol at the Mayofest event. Security will be checking bags and gear upon arrival and any found alcohol will be confiscated. Please note that our license extends to the parking lot as well. Please leave it at home! Mayofest staff and security reserve the right to inspect personal effects at any time.

Drinks can be purchased at the Underbar - Mayofest's very own, fully licensed forest bar! MayoBucks are the accepted currency and can be purchased from the Tuck Shop check-in station or online at the Mayo Store

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BRING?

  • Valid photo ID proving you're not a minor
  • Drinking water
  • Bathing suit
  • Towel
  • Tent
  • Flash light
  • Toilet paper

CAMPING

If this is not your first time, you are well acquainted with the camping areas. For the newbies: There is rough camping on site for tent camping. Some people have brought hammock tents, and these are welcome as well! Spaces are not reserved, so come early to secure you choice of a spot (we have ample room, but it's rough terrain and a short hike might be involved). There are no power or water hook-ups available for camping; we have a limited supply of power on site and it is dedicated to run essential festival needs. Respect the land; dispose of your trash responsibly in the bags and bins provided on site.

Fire safety: DO NOT light your own camping fire. Fires are not permitted in the camping areas. We have a (large) dedicated fire pit in the middle of the site. There are designated spots you can use a BBQ or small cooking fires in order to prepare food if needed.

REUSABLE CUPS?

Yes! Environmental sustainability is a big thing at Mayofest. We do not provide Solo Cups!W e're asking everyone to bring a reusable cup to drink out of. Don't have a cup? We'll have some available for purchase!

Our reusable cups change color and come with the Mayofest logo on them, making for a great souvenir of your time in the woods :)

IT'S RAINING! IS MAYOFEST STILL ON?

YES! We have enclosed structures to keep everyone dry and plenty of tarps. Nothing gets cancelled because of the rain :)

CAN I BRING SOMEONE?

Absolutely!

You just need to make sure you buy a second membership for them :)

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

Unfortunately not :(

Only registered service animals will be allowed at Mayofest. This is for the safety of our guests and the pets involved.

IS THIS AT SOMEONE'S HOUSE/COTTAGE?

Not really, the land used for Mayofest is used as an event location, with the exception of a few organizers camping out every so often, nobody lives on that land.

IS THERE ELECTRICITY?

Electricity is for staff use only. We do make some exceptions so contact an organizer if you need power. We do not guarantee power, and you should not expect it.

IS THERE DRINKABLE WATER THERE?

Bringing your own potable water is highly recommended. There is water on site but it's generally not available for drinking. The lake water is clean but is not drinkable. The bar is stocked with drinks, including water but we don't guarantee that water will always be available. Please also use biodegradable soap in the lake water to keep our lake as clean as possible.

WILL MY CELLPHONE WORK THERE?

Your cellphone will work from the road with intermittent service. At the site there's no cell reception. Please plan ahead and prepare to disconnect!

I HEARD THERE'S A WALK/HIKE INVOLVED TO GET TO THE LAKE. IS THAT TRUE?

Yes. Your car can't go any further than the parking areas – we need to keep the road clear for emergencies. There is however a ferrying service that can bring your stuff to the top. The walk is about 10-15 minutes from the parking lot to the lake, but you can probably also catch a ride on the ferrying vehicles when it's not too packed with stuff.
